Guild Auditions
Each year, Zabinski Music students participate in the Piano Guild Auditions, where they memorize a set of pieces and perform them in front of a judge, to receive a graded rubric, pin, and award!

Example of Award

General info:
-
Students work with their teachers to learn songs
-
They choose 4-12 songs from their repertoire, depending on their assigned level, to memorize
-
In May/June, students perform these memorized pieces in front of a judge from the Piano Guild, and get scored accordingly

Why do it:
-
Participating in Guild is a very good way to assess a student's development with piano
-
It does not have severe stakes attached to it, so there's nothing to fear!
-
Developing performance skills is crucial for any musician
-
Students can use songs they've already learned, instead of having to take on a whole new set of pieces

Scoring:
-
In Guild, scoring happens with "A's" and "C's"
-
A "C" is an affirmation that this skill is well demonstrated, and an "A" means there is more notable room for improvement
-
There are many different categories in the rubric, and each gets a score of an A, a C, or both if there seems to be some room for improvement but it's not as noteworthy
-
Certain categories won't apply for a set of pieces, such as pedal technique if the student's song choices don't have pedaling in them

How to join:
